A lot’s happened since my last post.

THE MISERY OF MARE: OATHBREAKER released on Kindle and KindleUnlimited. Set during the events of SELINA’S WORLD, discover a new (but equally deadly) side to Worldweaver: one of its licensed videogames, which holds a secret that is killing its users.

BUT WAIT, THERE”S MORE!
GHOSTS OF GROTON: TECHNODRAGON released on Kindle and KindleUnlimited. Set not too long after the events of SELINA’S WORLD, explore the cyberpunk streets of New Groton in the first of many short stories showing different points of view: bounty hunters, hackers, and ordinary people who find themselves caught up in business way out of their league.

The next installment, GHOSTS OF GROTON: TECHNOWORM releases soon — so keep an eye out!

My Patreon update is coming. Unfortunately, I found myself sick over the weekend I was supposed to be dedicating to work, barely able to get out of bed. That set me back a bit, but I did manage to get some test runs done on what I want to release, and the results were promising.

On a more personal note: North America is rampant with layoffs these days. Unfortunately, the company I work for is being hit hard. I’ve stated here and there that I’m a technical editor by day, and work in communications. Well, it was communicated to us all this past week, in no uncertain terms, to “have our resumes updated, just in case — because nobody is safe”. Having just had a big and expensive life change, with another upcoming, this was…less than stellar news to receive. But, God’s seen me through other changes, and I pray He’ll keep doing so, regardless of what that looks like.

Speaking of TECHNOWORM…I included a message the beginning of this story, because there is a sociopolitical angle to it that I wrote years ago without knowing of some of the terrifying events that would soon unfold. Which leads me to something that’s weighing heavy one me: your safety during these chilling times.

I’ve long said that the political arena is where actual issues go to die. America has a terrible habit of politicizing everything. Guns are a safety issue, not a political issue. It just so happens that some political parties (very intentionally) champion the free use and ownership of guns because it gets them more votes. Religion is a faith issue, not a political issue — and the same logic applies. And the same applies for the atrocities happening in our streets, with unarmed men and women being executed by “federal agents” with impunity.

When people are being murdered, it is not a political issue. It is a safety issue, and had anyone not claiming to be a federal agent done this exact thing, they’d be on trial for murder. It’s scary to think that America has slid into totalitarianism. We’re not completely there yet, but we’re dangerously close. Just recently, the president posted an extremely racist tweet on their own social media platform (the fact that the leader of the country has their OWN social media platform should be extremely alarming), and were forced to remove it before backlash could begin. In case you’re wondering: no, this wasn’t something that could be “interpreted” as racist. It was a picture of Michelle and Barack Obama’s heads pasted on top of monkeys. And before you ask — he recently stated that he hadn’t seen the full video, but also wouldn’t apologize. Wow, what a leader.

At the same time, a certain, very in-demand file was released and reveals a shocking number of people who participated in heinous acts. And yet nobody has been held accountable.

Death is not a political issue. Hurting people is not a political issue. It’s a humanitarian issue, and everyone should be coming together to prevent this from happening again and to hold those who committed these acts accountable. Sadly, America has devolved into tribalism, with sides holding so strongly to their cult-like beliefs that they refuse to see the truth, even when it’s exposed from multiple camera angles.

Stay safe from the cold, folks. It looks like winter’s finally come…and it brought ice with it.
